Big Bath brigade heading to London for Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 2025

13 April 2025

Olympic Champions Tom Dean and Kieran Bird are among a 49-strong cohort of University of Bath-based swimmers heading to the London Aquatics Centre for the Aquatics GB Swimming Championships 2025.

The first British titles of the LA 2028 Olympic cycle and places in the GB squad for this summer’s World Championships in Singapore will be decided during six days of action, from Tuesday 15th to Sunday 20th April.

Triple Olympic gold-medallist Dean, who only returned to training at the Team Bath Sports Training Village in January, is easing himself back into competition with one runout in the 100m freestyle.

Aquatics GB Bath Performance Centre team-mate Bird, who won 4x200m freestyle relay gold alongside Dean at Paris 2024, will be looking to defend his 400m freestyle title and is also contesting the 100m and 200m.

Fellow Olympians Leah Crisp, Jacob Peters and Jacob Whittle are also in action, while sporting scholars Cam Brooker, Joshua Gammon, Jack Skerry and Matthew Ward will look to build on the impressive medal-winning form they produced while racing for Bath at the BUCS Nationals.

The scholars are among 40 students competing in London over the next week, with 34 of the University of Bath Student Performance Sport swimming squad – coached by Mark Skimming and Andrei Vorontsov – targeting personal bests and podium places.

Team Bath AS, a performance swimming club that also trains in the 50m pool at the STV, will have four representatives at the Championships – Kate Baxter, Rue Fowler, Nancy Jubb and Harry Morgan-Hughes.
