More school children enjoy inspirational sporting festival fun at Team Bath as popular Tribe festivals continue into third decade

11 February 2025

More than 100 school pupils from across Bath and North East Somerset got to experience sport at the home of Olympic, Paralympic and World Champions when they took part in two fun festivals hosted by Team Bath Tribe.

The children in School Years 3&4 got to work on their racket skills with Team Bath Tennis community coaches, practice their passing and shooting with Team Bath Netball NXT Gen League stars Ellie Ervine and Sienna Rutherford, and race each other on the indoor sprint track during their visits to the University of Bath’s Sports Training Village (STV).

The inspirational events were supported by Bath Building Society, the main partners of the Team Bath Tribe youth sport programme that has now been delivering the annual fun-packed festivals for local schools for the past 20 years.

Jess Clements, Sports Development Manager at the University of Bath, said: “We always have such a fun time at these festivals and it was wonderful to see so many young people throwing themselves into the day and embracing the sporting opportunities on offer. They are a great way to introduce children to different activities, meet pupils from other schools and hopefully begin a lifelong love of sport.

“Thank you to all the schools who took part and to Bath Building Society for supporting our programme.”

Among the primary schools taking part were Farmborough, Oldfield Park and St Stephen’s, from Bath; Hemington, Trinity and Westfield, from Radstock; Paulton, Peasedown St John and Welton.

As well as festivals at the STV, Tribe delivers outreach sessions in primary and secondary schools across BANES as well as collaborative work with the local School Sports Partnership Team.

More than 2,000 pupils from year groups 1-13 from across the country also enjoy bespoke visits to the STV each year, taking part in multi-skill assessments, fundamental movement skills, sports-specific sessions, career guidance and athlete question and answer sessions.
