Terrific team gold caps another impressive IBSF World Cup as British Skeleton win medal of each colour at Altenberg

University of Bath-based skeleton athletes kicked off the European leg of the 2024-25 IBSF World Cup season in fine style by winning gold, silver and bronze in Altenberg, Germany.
Tabby Stoecker and Marcus Wyatt (pictured) took top spot in the team competition, finishing 0.37 seconds clear of the field in a discipline that will make its Olympic debut in 2026.
That result came just a couple of hours after Wyatt had won bronze and Matt Weston silver in the men’s event. Just one-hundredth of a second separated the Brits, while Germany’s Christopher Grotheer in turn was only three-hundredths clear of Weston as he won a fourth successive race.
Adverse weather conditions earlier in the day saw the women’s race reduced to one run rather than the usual two, with Amelia Coltman making the wider podium for GB with a sixth-place finish.
The University of Bath is home to the UK’s only outdoor push-start training track and British Skeleton athletes also do their strength and conditioning work at the Team Bath Sports Training Village. Click here to find out more.
