Student swimmers at the University of Bath will be competing in Chile and Hungary over the next few days as they take to the international stage.

Sam Williamson is heading to Santiago to represent Bermuda in the Pan American Games, which run from 20th October to 5th November. A busy gala will see the Sports Performance student contest the 100m and 200m breaststroke, 200m and 400m individual medley, and the 200m freestyle.

Business student Jemima Hall, Civil Engineering fresher Niamh Ward and Josh Gammon, the reigning 200m butterfly British Champion, will be competing at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup in Budapest from 20th to 22nd October.

It will be a first international competition for the trio, who all receive TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) support, but they will be able to call on the vast experience of University of Bath Assistant Coach Andrei Vorontsov, who is joining them in Hungary.

Mark Skimming, Head of Swimming at the University, said: “This is a great opportunity and incentive for Jemima, Josh and Niamh, a chance for them to compete for the first time internationally against some of the best swimmers in the world.”

The rest of the student swimming squad will also be competing over the weekend in domestic galas, with the majority heading to the Loughborough International Meet and others taking part in the Chelsea & Westminster and Millfield Swim Series in Somerset.
